PORT HARCOURT, AUGUST 26, 2022 (CISA) – Four religious sisters who were kidnapped in Nigeria on August 21 were unconditionally released on August 23, according to a statement by the Generelate.
The four, Sisters Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamalu and Benita Agu, members of the Congregation of Sisters of Jesus the Savior, were abducted around Okigwe-Umulolo junction while travelling from Rivers State to Imo State for a thanksgiving Mass.
The statement dated August 23, and signed by Sister Zita Ihedoro, the Secretary General of the Congregation reads, “With Hearts full of joy, the Sisters of Jesus the Saviour wish to announce the unconditional and safe release of four of our sisters who were abducted…”
“Today is a memorable day for us, therefore, we wish to share this joy with all men and women of goodwill who in one way or the other have contributed to the quick and safe release of our dear sisters,” continued the statement.
The Generelate in expressing gratitude said “We sincerely appreciate and thank you for your prayers and moral support during this difficult moment.”
