NAIROBI, MAY 3, 2019 (CISA)-The new apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megan is expected to arrive in Kenya on Saturday, May 4.
According to Fr Daniel Rono, the Secretary General of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) Archbishop Hubertus will be received by the Chairman of KCCB Archbishop Philip Anyolo, Archbishop of Nairobi His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, Archbishop Anthony Muheria of Nyeri alongside men and women religious.
Archbishop Hubertus was appointed the new Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan on February 15.
Before his appointment he was serving as the Apostolic Nuncio to Sudan and Eritrea a position he has held since 2014.
Archbishop Hubertus was born on October 4, 1961 in the town of Eygelshoven and ordained priest on July 13, 1987 to for the Catholic diocese of Roermond in Netherlands.
He has previously also worked at Nunciatures in Brazil, Slovakia, Israel, and in Malawi, where he was the chargé d’affaires.
He takes over from Archbishop Charles D. Balvo, the former Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, who was on September 21, 2018 transferred to Czech Republic.
